There is energy, enthusiasm and a great deal of optimism in these young fellows. When you talk to these children from the rural villages, they are bubbling with liveliness and a “I can do it” spirit and attitude. We are proud of them and we will contribute our little mite in their journey towards fulfilling their dreams. This is a small step by Pinnacle with just 330 kids in a village school where we are striving to provide an opportunity for them to lead a meaningful life.

This school has been fortunate to bring about vital transformation into the lives of the parents of these kids. About 30 of them leave school every year. The school has secured a record 100% results in the last two state board examinations with many of these kids securing distinctions.

I dare not say that this is a phenomenon unique to our school. I have travelled around the country visiting a number of schools where many of the village children are bright and keen to learn. They are waiting for an opportunity to rekindle hope & provide support to their families.

If only we can lend our hands to pull them out of the rut and help them join the main stream, many of them could become doctors, engineers, entrepreneurs, economists, architects, actuaries, skilled craftsmen, accountants, scientists, musicians, managers and what not.  A program that brings sharp focus to build a career for them when they pass out of the school is now gaining serious momentum.

Equally important is to guide and build living skills and self reliance in the not so smart kids who show symptoms of learning disabilities which when identified early in the day, can be corrected to bring them to the main stream. Pinnacle is working with a social entrepreneur in Chennai on this aspect.

Collaborative efforts can bring about extraordinary and measurable changes to the lives of the not so fortunate people in the villages and slums of India. While the government programs may or may not bring succour to these people, individuals through collective initiatives can pave the way for change. You can do that.
